The Latin Wave in Berlin

This project, which aimed to explore the intersection and impact of Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) immigration in Berlin's vibrant cultural landscape. Through meticulous research through surveys and immersive storytelling, the research pays important focus to the stories of immigrants and their profound contributions to Berlin's cultural landscape.

The visual concept of the book was crafted to reflect the merge of two contrasting cultures, expressed through a vibrant color palette and diverse layouts inspired by LAC imagery. Contrasting typographies, evoking classic literature, pay homage to the significant role of literature as a bridge between these cultures.

The design features overlapping photographs and transparency to symbolize the superposition of cultures and realities in the cultural exchange and makes use of the grid in a flexible way, defining a rather playful layout.

This research project provided a better understanding about the current dynamics of LAC cultural actors and expressions in Berlin, anticipating future scenarios and providing multiple design opportunities and possitive social impact solutions for the city. This research was the starting point of a cultural initiative called Lacondo.
